Anadi Khatri is one of Nepal's leading eye surgeons and among the most recognized young superstars of ophthalmology in South Asia. Known for his surgical excellence, compassionate care, and international training, he is regarded as one of the best retina and uveitis specialists in Nepal. Renowned for his surgical precision, compassion, and innovation in eye care, Dr. Khatri combines global expertise with a deep commitment to his community.
After completing his medical school and residency training from some of Asia's most reputed institutions, Dr. Khatri went on to perform over 4,000–5,000 eye surgeries annually, gaining unmatched hands-on experience in cataract and retinal procedures. His dedication to excellence led him to complete a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery, where he honed advanced microsurgical techniques and began training future generations of Nepali eye surgeons.
Driven by a passion for tackling complex inflammatory and immune-mediated eye diseases, Dr. Khatri later pursued an advanced fellowship in Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Stanford University, USA, under the mentorship of the world-renowned Prof. Quan Dong Nguyen. He remains the only ophthalmologist in Nepal trained in medical and surgical Retina and Uveitis subspecialties, bridging a crucial gap in specialized eye care within the region.
Today, Dr. Khatri already leads one of Nepal's busiest tertiary eye hospitals in Biratnagar and he has brought that vision to Lumbini - Gautam Buddha Eye Care Centre - providing world-class vitreoretinal, cataract, and uveitis care to thousands of patients every year. Under his leadership, the hospital has also become a global training center, hosting Stanford residents and international fellows for hands-on experience in sutureless extracapsular cataract surgery and complex retinal care.
